Hosting Assistant App

This is an individual AI project where I conceptualized, designed, and built a mobile prototype using Rork.com

Personal Motivation

  • I’ve always loved hosting friends and family at home, but whether is a dinner for four or a big birthday party, I often find the process overwhelming. The excitement of planning is quickly mixed with anxiety about where to start, how to organize everything, and the constant worry of forgetting something important. This personal challenge inspired me to design a solution that makes hosting less stressful and more enjoyable.

Problem

  • Hosting at home can be stressful: planning the menu, shopping, seating arrangements, timing, and even ambiance.

  • People often spend hours coordinating everything manually, leading to stress and mistakes.

  • Current solutions are fragmented (some apps help with recipes, others with smart home devices), but no unified solution exists.

Objective & Goals

Objective: Launch a mobile MVP that helps users plan, organize, and execute home events using AI-driven guidance.

Success Metrics:

  • · 60%+ of users complete an event plan after onboarding.
  • · At least 2 events planned per user in first 3 months.
  • · User satisfaction ≥ 4.5/5 on “reduced stress of hosting” metric.
  • · 20% of users share events with friends or partners via the app.

Target Users

Primary: Adults (25–45) who enjoy social gatherings at home but feel overwhelmed by planning.

  • Secondary: Busy professionals balancing social lives with limited time.
  • Tertiary: Beginner hosts who want structured guidance.

Core Features (MVP Scope)

  1. 1. AI Event Planner

· Generate event plans based on guest count, preferences, time, and budget.

  • · Output: Suggested menu, seating arrangement, ambiance ideas, checklist.

  1. 2. Smart Shopping List
  • · Auto-generate grocery and decor lists.
  • · Check items off while shopping.

  1. 3. Task Scheduler
  • · Timeline with reminders (prep food, set table, adjust lighting).
  • · Adjustable depending on event start time.

4. Guest Management

  • · Import guest list (contacts, manual).
  • · Capture dietary restrictions and seating preferences.

  1. 5. Ambiance & Decor Recommendations

· Recommend lighting, music playlists, decor arrangements.

  • · Optional integration with smart lights/speakers (future phase).

  1. 6. Post-Event Feedback
  • Collects guest feedback and suggests improvements for next time.

Out-of-Scope (for MVP)

  • · AR/VR visualization of table decor.
  • · Live streaming of events.
  • · In-app purchase of groceries/decor.
  • · AI voice assistant.

User Flows (High-Level)

  1. Flow 1: Create Event
  2. 1. User selects “Create New Event.”
  3. 2. Input: Guest count, event type (dinner, brunch, party), date/time.
  4. 3. AI generates draft plan (menu, seating, checklist, ambiance). User edits/customizes.

  1. Flow 2: Shopping List
  2. 1. From plan, user taps “Shopping List.”
  3. 2. Auto-generated list grouped by categories (produce, drinks, decor).
  4. 3. User checks off as they shop.

  1. Flow 3: Execution Day
  2. 1. Timeline view activates “Today Mode.”
  3. 2. Step-by-step tasks with reminders.
  4. 3. Event readiness progress (e.g. 70% done).

Edge Cases & Considerations

Last-minute guest changes: System recalculates portions and updates shopping list.

  • User has limited time (e.g. event in 2 hours): AI generates simplified plan (quick recipes, light setup).

  • Offline mode: User can still access saved shopping list and event timeline without internet.

  • AI suggests unavailable ingredients: System substitutes with common alternatives.

  • Accessibility: Colorblind-friendly UI, voice input for event creation.

Future Opportunities (Post-MVP)

One-Click Shopping Integration: Direct connection to grocery and decor partners to order from the AI-generated list.

AI Co-Host: Conversational assistant that guides you in real time while setting up.

Sustainability Mode: Recommendations for eco-friendly recipes, reusable decor, and waste-reduction tips.

Community & Event Sharing: Users share their setups, menus, or achievements for inspiration and feedback.

Pro Host Tier: Subscription for advanced features like multi-event planning, premium decor catalogs, or concierge partnerships.

Timeline (MVP: 6-9 months)

· Months 1–2: Research, scoping, design wireframes, AI prototype.

· Months 3–4: Core mobile dev foundation + AI integration.

· Months 5–6: Feature build (event planner, shopping list, timeline).

· Months 7–8: QA testing, AI refinement.

· Month 9: Launch prep + early marketing.
